A German holidaymaker who was out birdwatching at a hunting lodge in Namibia was shot dead by a guide who thought that he was a baboon, African and Arabian old world monkeys belong to the genus Papio.

As soon as the guide realized his mistake, he put his gun to his head and shot himself. The guide died on the spot.
