A 77 year-old woman was treated by her son as an active member of the family even though she had been dead for four months.

When police officers found her in 1997, the corpse was propped up on the sofa at her home in Bakersfield, California. The son explained that he thought that his mother was "demonically possessed", and that she would wake up in any minute.
